The Monkey King, Ne Zha, Snow Child, and the Calabash Brothers — they are some of China’s most beloved (深受喜爱的) cartoon characters (角色). Now they all show up in a short video, playing different kinds of winter sports. The Shanghai Animation Film Studio made the video to celebrate the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. Many people said the video “brings back their childhood”.

Li Wenwen, 21

Li showed her supremacy(统治地位) in the women’s weightlifting(举重) +87 kg division(级别). She set three new Olympic records. Li has arm pain and just went through the death of her grandfather, but she didn’t let these things get her down. Every time she went to lift, she shouted to cheer for herself. After winning, she shared her happiness with a “heart” gesture(比心).

Quan Hongchan, 14

Quan was the youngest member of the Chinese team. In the women’s 10-meter platform final, she wowed(惊讶) the world by scoring perfect 10 points three times to win the gold medal. She said she just did what she did every day. During training, she would dive more than 300 times every day. In her free time, she is just like other girls. She likes to play computer games and eat latiao.

Zhang Changhong, 21

Unlike his more outgoing peers(同龄人), the gold winner of the men’s 50-meter rifle three positions(50米步枪三姿) is calm. Zhang just smiled after winning the gold. “This calm also makes a good shooter(射手)”, his coach Ma Jun said. “I take the rifle as my lover,” Zhang said. “Every time I shoot, I do it with my whole heart.”
