一、Jenny, can you come to my party on Saturday afternoon? 珍妮，周六下午你能来参加我的聚会吗？

1、Can you…?意为“你能……吗？”，是一个发出邀请的重点句式。如果想更礼貌地发出邀请，还可以使用“Could you …?”或“Would you like to…?”。接受邀请常用“Sure，I’d love to.（当然了，我愿意。） ”。委婉拒绝邀请常用“Sorry, I can’t. （对不起，我不能。）” 或“I’d love to, but…(我很愿意，但是……)”。

——Can you come to my home this evening? 今天晚上你能来我家吗？

——Sure, I’d love to. 当然了，我很愿意。

2、on Saturday afternoon“在周六的下午”，相当于on the afternoon of Saturday。在具体的某一天或某一天的上午、下午或晚上，用介词on，而不用介词in。

如：on the morning of May 1st 在五月一日上午

on Monday evening 在周一晚上

二、I have to prepare for an exam. 我不得不为考试做准备。

prepare此处用作不及物动词，意为“做准备”，也可用作及物动词，意为“使做好准备；把……准备好”。常用短语 

1、prepare for…     为……做准备

例句：I think that we should prepare for our future.   我想我们应该为将来做点准备。

2、prepare sb. for sth.   使某人为某事作准备

例句： We must prepare her for the bad news.  我们必须使她为这个坏消息做好准备。

例句：He prepared to write to his parents.     他准备给父母写信。

三、That’s too bad. May be another time.这太糟糕了。或许其他时间吧。

another time  其他时间；别的时间

例句：I will have to argue this with you another time.  我下次再跟你把这件事辩个明白。

其中would love to do和would like to do用法类似，只是语气更强。

would like to do: 想要做；想干(某事) 

would love to do: 渴望做；极其想干(某事)

五、Sam isn’t leaving until next Wednesday.萨姆要到下周三才会离开。

not …until 直到……才……，句中谓语动词常用非延续性动词，表示until所表示的时间到了，该动作才发生。此处until用作介词，意为“到……时；直到……为止”。

例句：The noise didn’t stop until midnight.     噪音一直到午夜才停止。

六、Can you hang out with us on Monday night? 周一晚上你能和我们一起玩吗？

hang out  闲逛；常去某处

例句：I always hang out.    我常常闲逛。

七、 Inviting 邀请

invite动词，意为“邀请”。其常见用法有：

1、invite sb. to+地点名词，表示“邀请某人去某地”。

例句：My friend invites me to his home.     我的朋友邀请我去他的家。

2、invite sb. to do sth.表示“邀请某人做某事”。

例句：Yesterday Jack invited me to play tennis.  昨天，杰克邀请我去打网球。

八、accepting接受

accept动词，意为“接受”。其反义词为refuse。

例句：I can accept his invitation. 我能够接受他的邀请。

1、accept意为“接受”，指主观上愿意接受

2、receive意为“收到”，指客观上收到或拿到，但主观上不一定会接受
