grow up 意为＂长大；成熟；成长＂ 是动词短语，相当于不及物动词，其后不跟宾语。

What does John want to be when he grows up? 当约翰长大了，他想成为什么？

（1）grow 的用法如下：

          v. 种植；使生长，为及物动词。

          v. 生长；发育；长大，为不及物动词。

          v. 变得，作连系动词，后面跟形容词。
