Have you ever tried Shaxian Snacks(沙县小吃)? You may find Shaxian Snacks restaurants in nearly every Chinese city. But now the popular restaurant chain(连锁店) is going overseas(海外).

Last month, Shaxian Snacks opened its first store in York City. It was so popular that all of its food sold out within three hours on the first day it was open.

Shaxian Snacks comes from Shaxian county in Fujian province. Many local(当地的) people left the county in past years to work in other parts of China. And of course, they brought their food with them. Now more and more people love it.

Shaxian Snacks sells local foods from Shaxian such as peanut butter noodles(花生酱拌面)and pork wontons(猪肉馄饨).There are many dishes to choose from. Some are traditional, while others are new. But the thing they have in common is that none of them is expensive. That might be why they’re so popular. At the Shaxian Snacks store in the US, a full meal costs about the same as a meal at KFC or McDonald’s.

A long time ago, there was a big apple tree. A little boy loved to come and played around it every day. He climbed to the tree top, ate the apples, took a nap（小睡） under the shadow. He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him. 

Time went by. The little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree every day. One day, the boy came back to the tree, and he looked sad. “I want toys. I need money to buy them,” he said. “You can pick all my apples and sell them. So you will have money,” The tree said. The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily.

One day, the boy returned, and the tree was so excited. “I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter(居所). Can you help me? ” “You can chop off my branches（树枝) to build your house.” So the boy cut all the branches of the tree and left happily.

One hot summer day, the boy returned, and the tree was delighted. “Come and play with me!” the tree said. “I am sad and getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat? ” “Use my trunks（树干）to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy. ” So the boy cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a long time. The tree was happy, but it was not true.

Finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years. “Sorry, my boy. But I don't have anything for you anymore.” The tree said with tears. “I don’t need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years.” The boy replied. “Good! An old tree root is the best place to lean on and rest. Come, come, sit down with me and rest.” The boy sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears.
