At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, a young Chinese girl became famous. She is 14-year-old Quan Hongchan. She is the youngest athlete of Team China at the Olympics. On August 5th, she won the women’s 10-meter platform diving event (跳台跳水项目).

“I want to thank my parents and coach (教练). They tell me to just relax and go for my dives freely,” she said after winning the gold medal. In September, she got two golds at the 14th National Games in Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province.

Quan was born in a small town in the city of Zhanjiang, South China’s Guangdong Province. She started diving at the age of seven. In 2018, she joined the Guangdong Diving Team. Then she joined the national team at the end of 2020.
