1. Is there a hospital near here? 这附近有医院吗?(教材第55页)

Is there...? 意为“有…吗?”,这是 there be句型的一般疑问句形式,把be动词放在句首句末用问号,读时句末用升调。此类疑问句的肯定回答是“Yes, there is/are.";其否定回答是“No,there isn't/aren't.

—Is there a book in your backpack? 你的背包里有书吗?

—Yes, there is.是的,有 / No, there isn't. 不,没有

2. The pay phone is in front of the library.付费电话在图书馆前面。(教材第56页)

in front of意为“在…的前面”,其对应词 behind意为“在…的后面”。

Tom is in front of me.汤姆在我的前面。

There is a car in front of the house.在房子的前面有一辆小汽车

辨析: in front of与 in the front of

in front of强调一个物体在另一个物体外部的前面

 Mary is in front of the car.玛丽在小汽车的前面

in the front of强调一个物体在另一个物体内部的前面

 Cathy sits in the front of the car.凯茜坐在小汽车的前面

3. The pay phone is next to the library.付费电话挨着邮局。

next to 在……旁边，靠近……，后接地点名词或代词。

如：The building is next to the library.这个建筑挨着图书馆。

between…and…在……和……之间（两者之间）。

如： She is sitting between Lily and Lucy.她坐在Lily和Lucy的之间。

此句型是there be结构，主要用来表达“在某处有某人或某物”，其基本句型是：There be +sb/sth+地点。there be句型中的谓语动词be在人称和数上应与其后的主语保持一致。主语是不可数名词或单数，be用is；主语是复数名词时，be用are。如：

There is a boy and two girls in the room.房间里有一个男孩和二个女孩。

There are two girls and a boy in the room.房间里有二个女孩和一个男孩。

6. It's on Center Street.它在中心街。

表示“在……街道”用介词on。        如：On North Street 在北街

7. I love to watch the monkeys climbing around.我喜欢看猴子到处爬来爬去。

watch此处用作及物动词，意为：观看。

①watch sb doing sth 看见某人正在做某事，强调动作正在进行。

如：  I watched him eating bananas.我看到他正在吃香蕉。

②watch sb do sth 看到某人做了某事或做某事的全过程。

如：  The girl watched him steal that book.那个女孩看到他偷了那本书

8. I like to spend time there on weekends. 我喜欢在那里度过周末。
